Future Public Transportation

Hypotetical Brand Design

One of the projects I immensely enjoyed during my studies at the art academy was the group project we named "GoQube." This was in the minor course Branding, in which we were assigned to work with four other people from different degrees than our own. Our client for this project was the city of Rotterdam, and our assignment was to create an innovative development that would “make the city better. “ We had to also think about how can it meet or exceed contemporary standards.

The idea we developed was a new way of public transportation in the form of individual “Qubes“ or cabins placed on the current metro’s rails. This was provoked by the Coronavirus measures for social distancing and the protection of people’s privacy and safety on public transport. It also had a sustainable side to it, as it simultaneously moves and provides faster travel from A to B than any other type of transportation, which would attract even the car owners.

As the graphic designer in the group, I created the logo for our newly-emerged brand. I approached it by replicating the shape of the 3D visualization of the public transportation cabin of our project, created by my groupmates. Having created the brand guidelines in discussion with the group, I already had the two primary colors I needed to embed. I decided to make it graphic, taking the name's initials, as I noticed the shapes were similar and could overlap each other.

I also worked on the Mobile Application Design, which was the first time I got to create such an asset. I needed to clarify the steps, the visualization, and legibility of the different elements, as well as the whole outlook of the interface.

All in all, I immensely enjoyed working in a group as the efforts of multiple professionals in different fields are always fruitful. When everyone knows their exact role and contribution, the process is much easier and enjoyable for everyone - as they're free to work on what they're best at.
